The information we collect
When you send an enquiry
If you use the enquiry form we collect your name, phone number, email address, the address of the property, the survey you are interested in and your message. The form sends your enquiry to our email inbox; it is not stored on the website. If you phone or email us we keep that conversation so we can reply and refer back to it.
When we carry out a survey or inspection
To quote for and carry out a survey we record your name and contact details, the address of the property and how we can get access to it, details of the purchase where they affect the survey, the notes and photographs taken during the inspection, the report we produce and the invoice. We need this to carry out the survey, to answer any questions about our report later, and to keep the business records the law requires.
When you browse the site
With your consent, we use Google Analytics (measurement ID G-6HFVYTHEQC) to understand how people find and use the site — which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are, and what device they use. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to do this. These cookies are not set unless you accept them, and you can change your mind at any time using “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page. Declining does not affect your ability to use the site.
Our enquiry form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which checks that the form is being used by a person and not an automated program. To do that it collects information about your device and how you use the page and sends it to Google.
The site uses Google Fonts to display text. When a page loads, your browser requests the fonts from Google, which receives your IP address. Google Fonts does not set cookies.
Our hosting and security systems also keep standard server logs, including IP addresses, which help us keep the site available and protect it from abuse. We keep a record of the cookie choice you make (a random ID, your choices and the date — not your IP address) for up to two years, so that we can show we asked for your consent.
Why we are allowed to use your information
UK data protection law requires us to have a lawful basis for using your information. Ours are:
- To take steps at your request and to perform our contract with you — answering your enquiry, quoting, carrying out the work and taking payment.
- Our legitimate interests — keeping records of the work we have done, dealing with any warranty or guarantee, preventing spam and fraud, and keeping the website secure. We use this basis only where it does not override your own rights.
- Your consent — analytics cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation — keeping the accounting records that tax law requires us to keep.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing. We do share it with the suppliers who help us run the business:
- Google — analytics (only if you accept analytics cookies), spam protection on our enquiry form, and web fonts.
- Our website host, email provider and IT suppliers — who store the site, its data and our email on our behalf.
- Our professional indemnity insurers and professional advisers — only where needed to deal with a question or claim about our work.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to establish or defend a legal claim.
Sending information outside the UK
Some of the suppliers above, including Google, may process information outside the UK. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by safeguards approved for use in the UK, such as the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or a data bridge (adequacy) decision.
How long we keep it
- Survey reports, inspection notes and photographs — up to 15 years after the survey, because a claim about a survey can be brought up to 15 years later under the Limitation Act 1980.
- Invoices and accounting records — six years after the end of the relevant tax year, because HMRC requires business records to be kept for that long.
- Enquiries that do not become surveys — kept while they are useful for answering you, then deleted.
- Analytics data — retained by Google for the period set in our Google Analytics configuration.
- Cookie consent records — two years.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong;
- ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep;
- ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to us using it;
- ask us to transfer it to you or another provider in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, where consent is what we relied on.
To exercise any of these, email info@blueblossomsurveysltd.co.uk. We will respond within one month. There is normally no charge.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK’s data protection regulator:
